Sian Macaulay, aged 17, has won a prize of £250 in a competition to design images for The Corby Sixth Form, which, like The Bedford Sixth Form, is part of The Bedford College Group.
The first theme of “Sustainability” matches the eco-investment in the refurbished building on top of the Corby Town shopping centre. The Corby Sixth Form is Net Zero Carbon in operation. Achieved by implementing fabric first solutions, air source heat pumps, waste heat recovery systems and onsite generation through Solar PV panels.
This was won by Sian who is an Art and Media student of The Bedford Sixth Form. Sian lives in Harrold, Bedfordshire.
The second theme was “Career Diversity” a subject close to the hearts of developers T & B Contractors who want to encourage as many people as possible to consider joining the construction industry – from architects and bricklayers, to surveyors and project managers.
The winner was 18-year-old Charlotte Parnham who lives in Great Denham, Beds and studied at Biddenham International School.
Their winning artworks were turned into a professionally-made banner which will be on display at the building. Presenting the cheques was Oliver Tansley from the marketing team at T & B Contractors.
