If you’ve decided to leave school and continue your education elsewhere we understand it can be scary. When joining a new place where you’ll meet new people, every day is bound to be different but there are certain things we’d like you to know before starting in September.
So… here are 10 things you should know before joining The Bedford Sixth Form:
Life will not stop at the end of your lessons. We have a range of extra-curricular opportunities that you can take part in to challenge yourself and expand your learning experience.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop skills that both universities and employers look for. You will be involved in inspiring potential students at Open Days and campus tours, helping new students settle in through Welcome Days and Induction, and make an impact on how The Bedford Sixth Form operates through focus groups.
There’s a lot more to discover outside of the classroom at the Sixth Form. Here’s a taste of what you could get involved in:
- The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE): adventurous and fun activities which lead to a nationally recognised award.
- Young Enterprise: enterprise, finance programmes, and masterclasses.
- Volunteering: with local organisations, which can benefit the community and make a great addition to your UCAS application or CV.
When you join us, you will be assigned a professionally trained Personal Achievement Tutor who will help you succeed and exceed your academic potential. You will have regular group tutorials where you focus on topics such as health, wellbeing, and study skills. You will also have one-to-one tutorials to talk about your own individual progress, future plans and to address any concerns you may have.
Ofsted rates us ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features, meaning you will receive an excellent education from the day you join us.
With a History teacher who was previously a Dr in Archaeology and a Health & Social teacher who was a Nurse in the Navy, we have expert teachers who have enjoyed careers in the subjects they are teaching you.
Our Careers Advisers provide advice and guidance on everything from your education, training, and work prospects to support with CV writing, interview preparation, and UCAS applications.
Are you worried or unsure about the subjects you’ve picked? Don’t worry, if you start studying with us and feel like you may want to change your options, you can do so within the first two weeks.
In 2020, our A-Level students achieved a 100% pass rate. As a result of this outstanding success, they went on to study at top universities, higher apprenticeships, or into employment. Just imagine… it could be you next!
From Cambridge University to Oxbridge, our alumni are studying a broad range of subjects at excellent universities across the UK. Some of our former students have also progressed on to higher apprenticeships or into employment so whatever your planned destination is, we will help you get there.
